Getting There

There are two main options:

If you’re flying from farther away, we recommend flying into Redding Regional Airport, which is about a 1 hour 15 minute drive to Shasta View Lodge.

Alternatively, if you’re flying into or already local to the Bay Area, you can make it an easy 5-6 hour road trip, depending on traffic and how fast you drive.

If you do not feel comfortable renting a car or driving and do not have a carpool option with a friend, let us know on the RSVP form. Also, if you are happy to drive someone else, let us know on the RSVP form too.

Road trip stop ideas along the way:

Old Sacramento Waterfront for a leg stretch and snacks

The Olive Pit for many olive samples and olive oil milkshakes

Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge for birds and nature

Sundial Bridge in Redding for a pretty river stop

Lake Shasta Caverns for more of an adventure

Arrival Notes

Check-in logistics will be here!

Local Attractions

If you want to check out the area, here’s what we recommend. Monday will be our optional activity day, and some of these could also become group activities.

Castle Crags State Park

A great stop if you want classic NorCal mountain scenery. Good for a stretch break, a short viewpoint walk, or a more ambitious hike.

Weed

A fun nearby town stop for coffee, snacks, and the iconic sign photos. It is a former mill town with a lot of local personality.

Burney Falls

If you want the dramatic waterfall option, this is the one. It makes for a very pretty day trip and feels especially worth it if you want big scenery without a huge hike.

Lassen Volcanic National Park

The biggest adventure option on this list: volcanic landscapes, steaming hydrothermal areas, scenic drives, and hikes ranging from easy stops to longer outings.

Lake Siskiyou

A more relaxed option if you want lake views and an easy outdoor day. Good for a walk, a picnic, or just hanging out by the water.
